This month marks ten years since Gentian first started supporting Winchester Rugby Football Club (WRFC) as a principal sponsor.
Gentian has supported the club in a variety of ways over these ten years and is currently a youth team sponsor helping the under 13s to under 16s teams develop towards senior rugby. All the youth teams have just had a great season with the under 13s and under 14s in particular each winning the Hampshire Cup and the under 15s and under 16s being losing finalists. This talent pathway is great to see.
Nick Ekins, Managing Director of Gentian said: "I'm really proud that we have supported WRFC for the last ten years. Gentian first became involved when three of my sons were playing junior rugby and I wanted to give back to the Club. I'm pleased to still be sponsoring the team ten years on, time flies!"
Rob Sanderson, President of WRFC said: "We're really grateful to Gentian and all of our sponsors for the support they show us. WRFC has gone from strength to strength over the last ten years but particularly since Covid when support from sponsors ensured that we are here today. Our current success is thanks to the hard work of all our players, supporters, sponsors and volunteers."
Gentian aims to positively impact the communities where is operates and in 2020 pledged to do more to support charities and community groups local to its developments. In addition to WRFC, Gentian supports Yellow Door, a charity that supports victims of domestic and sexual abuse and three Winchester-based charity partners namely, The Winchester Beacon, Winchester & District Young Carers and Move Momentum. In the North East Gentian also supports Ouseburn Farm a working community farm which local children and families can visit for free to learn about farming, meet animals and explore green spaces.
