We are pleased to announce the sale of one of our retail assets, 3 Castle Street in Farnham.
Gentian purchased the building in 2015 before undertaking a full refurbishment to provide a ground floor retail unit and two high-end residential units at the rear and first floor level.
The retail unit was let to Gail's Ltd for a term of 15 years and the residential parts were sold on a long-leasehold basis for 125 years.
We are pleased to have completed a 10-year reversionary lease with SSP to commence in February 2023, when their current lease expires. SSP has been in occupation since 2011 when the main entrance concourse was completed and we look forward to working with them for another 10 years.
As part of the deal, SSP has committed to undertaking a refurbishment of the store later this year to incorporate the new M&S branding and updated product range.
Works are progressing well at our retail centre site at the Bloor Homes Brize Meadow development.
The steel frame is now in place for the 7,000 sq ft convenience store and retail terrace which we are building for Mid Counties Co-op.
As part of our commitment to support the local community in the vicinity of each new Gentian development we will be donating a total of £10,000 to local good causes in the Parish of Brize Norton.
Our community grant scheme is open to local charities, community groups, sports teams, schools and educational establishments. Local Brize Norton residents can apply via the Brize Norton Parish Council website here until 30 September 2022.
Gentian aims to positively impact people’s lives. As a commitment to this, they have announced financial support for three local charities. Each charity will receive £3,000 per year for the next two years from Gentian.
The charities were chosen because of the invaluable services they provide to the Winchester community. The Winchester Beacon (previously known as the Winchester Churches Night Shelter) offers accommodation, food and vital support services to people experiencing homelessness. Winchester Young Carers’ improves the lives of children and young people with caring responsibilities. Move Momentum believes dance is for everyone. It provides classes that are accessible, inclusive and affordable for everyone.
Gentian hopes the money can cover some of the core costs of the charities. Enabling the charities to deliver support to more people in Winchester.
The company has an ongoing commitment to supporting local community groups. Gentian has been a sponsor of Winchester Rugby Football Club for the past seven years. They have also previously sponsored Hampshire Pride.
Managing Director of Gentian, Nick Ekins said: "Following our significant investment in Winchester's High Street, we wanted to ensure we also gave back to the local community. We hope our financial support will enable these charities to continue their vital work for people in Winchester.”
Gentian will be exhibiting at the Health Estates and Facilities Management Association (Hefma) exhibition at the DoubleTree by Hilton Milton Keynes hotel and conference venue within Stadium MK on May 11 - 13, 2022.
Andrew Bell and Paul Phillips will be partnering on the day with Mike and Paul Burns of CTEC, developers of a small-scale decardonised waste-to-energy facility.
