Gentian undertook a comprehensive development of the Main Entrance in 2001 including new retail units, food court, waiting area and office facilities. The project was delivered at nil cost to the Trust and was financed using the retail income from Costa Coffee, WHSmith, Stock Shop, amongst others.
The work was carried out to the highest design standards using modern design principles to create an attractive and welcoming environment. Upon completion of the works Gentian was granted a 30 year head lease from the Trust with the retail operators occupying the units by way of co-terminus sub-leases direct from Gentian. Gentian manages the retailers' occupation including collecting the rents and service charges and taking all financial and operational risks associated with the space.
Gentian has since agreed a reversionary lease to 2060.
